Xcluded: New Youth-Led Film Tackles School Exclusions and Youth Violence
20 avr. 2025The Peace Alliance in partnership with McPin proudly presents interactive film Xcluded, a powerful new interactive film that follows the story of a young girl called Heaven navigating the struggles and triumphs of her complex school environment, based on the deep research of the London Peer Action Collective (PAC) team.
The film is part of a groundbreaking initiative that explores a crucial question, “What support helps young people before, during and after school exclusion to protect them from youth violence?” Xcluded draws on the lived experiences of 71 young people across Haringey who have had a direct and indirect experience with the UK school exclusion system. The film not only explores the root causes and consequences of school exclusions but also calls for an inclusive supportive education system that prioritises the mental wellbeing of every student. This bold initiative features over 40 young people across the Haringey borough, both behind and in front of the camera, working as writers, performers and producers. An original soundtrack developed with emerging youth artists featuring some spoken word pieces from the main character Heaven. The soundtrack underpins the emotional weight and urgency of the message. Xcluded is more than a film. It’s a mandate.
