La Guinéolese, the pioneering diasporic cultural movement celebrating the fusion of West and Central African heritage, proudly announces its 3rd annual celebration. This year’s event, themed “MIC MAC”, takes inspiration from the 1980s film Black Mic Mac, reimagining its spirit of cultural fusion and social commentary for today’s vibrant African diaspora.

If you have never experienced a griot performance, or you are yet to witness sapeurs outside of your phone screen, then this is the night for you not to be missed! Taking place on Saturday, October 25th, 2025 in London, La Guinéolese will bring together communities, artists, and cultural leaders for a night of fashion, music, food, and storytelling.

Guests will experience an unforgettable blend of traditions through:

  • A Griot Performance – preserving West Africa’s rich oral heritage.
  • The Sape Showcase – led by the legendary Djo Balard, celebrated as Le Roi de la Sape, alongside London-based sapeurs.
  • A Live Rumba Performance by Renowned Congolese Artist Claudia Bakisa – blessing the audience with her soulful voice and captivating stage presence.
  • The Best in Bazin Competition – spotlighting the glamorous fashion of Bazin, from heavily embroidered boubous to form fitting, elegant gowns.
  • Hot, Mouthwatering West & Central African Cuisine – served throughout the evening, offering guests a taste of authentic and delicious flavors.
  • A Musical Journey Across the Continent – from Ndombolo to Mamaya, Coupé Décalé to your favorite hits, La Guinéolese takes you on a cultural travel through sound. Whether you are a natural dancer or someone who nods and taps your feet, you will not be able to resist moving to the music.

The evening will also feature audience-led showcases, red carpet interviews, and awards for Best in Bazin 2025 and Best Sapeur/Sapeuse 2025.

“La Guinéolese is more than an event—it’s a movement. It’s about preserving and celebrating our roots while connecting with the wider world. MIC MAC embodies the spirit of bringing cultures together in dialogue and joy,” says Chancel Soumah (Princess Channi), founder of La Guinéolese.

With the growing global interest in Black dandyism, Congolese rumba, cultural heritage, and African fashion, La Guinéolese offers a unique platform where heritage meets modernity, and tradition meets diaspora innovation.
